Iranian forces say they have struck a US naval base in Bahrain, as the country executed strikes across the region in response for a significant and continuing offensive against it by the United States and Israeli forces.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area close to the main base of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The extent of any destruction is not yet known and the US has yet to issue a statement.

Regional Interceptions

In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - each hosting US military bases - said they have intercepted incoming projectiles in their airspace.

In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry said it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the region.

Operation "Truthful Promise 4"

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard said in a statement it was targeting US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the attack on Iran launched by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.

That preceding assault - initiated at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far targeted sites linked to the Iranian leadership, with President Trump urging the people of Iran to rise up against the regime.

Additional Developments

In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israel Defense Forces said it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates said in a statement that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems responded to the missiles with high efficiency and destroyed a series of missiles," the statement continued.

The statement noted wreckage landed in a neighborhood in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some property damage and killing a civilian.

The United States Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
