Roughly fifty automobiles have been smeared with what appears to be human blood in the Germany's town of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm police.
Cars, exterior walls and postboxes were vandalized, occasionally with swastikas, they announced in a official communication.
Officers state they were contacted during the night on Wednesday, when a individual discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish substance.
The liquid had been drawn in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Police then located many other vandalized vehicles and house walls in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under laws outlawing the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.
Officials report early analysis indicate the fluid was probably human bodily fluid.
"At present there remains no indication as to its origin; authorities are not yet cognizant of any physical harm in connection with the incident," they added.
Municipal representatives announced they were working "to unravel the case" and have asked to the residents for tips.
A senior representative stated the vandalism made him speechless and had to be resolved rapidly.
"This act hits the center of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the extremist terrorist attack five years ago," he wrote on a platform, recalling the death of nine individuals by a shooter focusing on individuals of foreign heritage in five years prior.
