This strategic shift follows organizational reforms at the government-backed institute, including the resignation of its ex-leader last month after both workforce dissatisfaction and official demands for major restructuring.

Growing Cybersecurity Concerns

The new mission comes amid growing concern about the nation's susceptibility to internet outages and online threats.

Recent incidents have highlighted these weaknesses, including a major outage affecting worldwide digital services and recent cyber-attacks that affected operations at key facilities and distribution networks across various businesses.

A ex-military leader of the the nation's space operations center will report back next month on how the publicly-supported center can optimally help the extent of national AI objectives in defense, national security and information gathering.

Strategic Realignment

The institute's chair, a former Amazon UK boss, confirmed that nearly eighty separate studies at the organization with 440 employees have been terminated, transferred out or finished because they fail to match with the revised strategy.

Organizational Difficulties
